See what our Chicago dog families have to say

"I did a lot of research when looking for someone to guide me and my chocolate lab, Drake, through a series of significant environmental changes. Those changes included the loss of my other dog and moving from the suburbs to a high rise downtown. After speaking with Shir for a few minutes, I knew her background and love for helping people and dogs, is exactly what we needed. I cannot thank her enough for showing me how to trust and listen to Drake but also how to give him the confidence he needs to be happy and fulfilled every day. She has allowed us to bond even more and has given us the tools to experience the world together, in the big city. Because of Shir, Drake gets to enjoy doggy daycare, the dog park down the street and is frequently acknowledged by others for his behavior. She has helped us live the life we imagined and we cannot thank her enough!"

We found ourselves reaching out to Shir while I was pregnant and feeling somewhat hopeless over some of the anxious behaviors our one year old pup was starting to exhibit. We had worked with a handful of other trainers and no one could seem to crack the code on our sweet (but neurotic) girl, Moo.

Even from the intro call, we knew we were in good hands with Shir. Shir understood Moo and her brain in a way that no one else had. She was patient, kind, understanding, and loving of our entire family along the way. It’s been incredible to see the change in our dog and we feel so much more confident as dog owners with the tools Shir has given us. Don’t get me wrong, working with Shir isn’t magic, it’s going to be hard work for you and your dog - but it pays off in dividends. Her expertise is truly unparalleled, and again this is coming from someone who worked with multiple trainers across the city with no results.

Shir gets dogs and she gets people - the magic in her work is that she knows how to get the two to work together in productive harmony and truly changes the lives of both. She became so much more than our trainer - Shir feels like family.

For anyone feeling hopeless with their dog journey, you’ve come to the right place. Shir is worth every penny, and then some…. and then some more!

Thank you, Shir. For helping Moo understand that the world isn’t so scary, for giving us the tools to help her feel confident and secure, and for changing our family for the better for years and years to come. We love you!

"We cannot say enough good things about Another Chance Training and Shir, who runs the company. When we got our 4-year old rescue, Liza, we knew we were in for a long road ahead. We don't know exactly what she had gone through in her past life (we suspected abuse), but she was terrified of going outside, nervous around new people, scared of pretty much all new places aside from our condo, and developed severe separation anxiety within days of us getting her. We tried working with dog walkers and some other trainers, but nothing seemed to fit. Enter Another Chance Training. Shir taught us some very basic ways to help Liza with her troubles, to help us bond as a family, to bring Liza out of her shell, and to embrace the playful, sweet girl she is. Within weeks of working with Shir, Liza was happily walking outside, chasing squirrels, and let down her guard SO much. We could tell her quality life was improving daily. We continue to work with Shir on Liza's socialization with people and other dogs, and she is has been progressing so much. I honestly don't know how we could have done it without Another Chance Training. Shir is SO passionate and committed to helping these dogs, no matter what problems they face are or how many "chances" they may have had in their past lives. She loves Liza, and she truly feels like family to us at this point. Five stars, 100%, highly recommend!"
